Betty Dolan-Mauro, school librarian

Betty Dolan-Mauro, of Amherst, died Wednesday, May 27, 2015. She was 82.

Mrs. Dolan-Mauro raised five children with her husband, Ralph Mauro, with whom she shared 62 years of marriage. They also saved two children from Belfast, Northern Ireland, Patrick and Dan, and brought them to the United States for a better life.

She worked in Elma as a librarian at Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary School and at St. Vincent de Paul School, where the library was named after her. She enjoyed socializing and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She also was known for her banana bread, which she loved to make.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Dolan-Mauro is survived by two daughters, Peggy Mauro and Patricia Schukraft; five sons, Bill Frank and Michael Mauro, and Patrick and Dan McDonell; 10 grandchildren; and one sister, Dorothy Kruszka.

A memorial Mass was held at Infant of Prague Church on May 30, with arrangements made by the Dengler, Roberts, Perna Funeral Home. Donations in Mrs. Dolan-Mauro’s name may be made to Hospice Buffalo.
