Seniors recall days spent at Crystal Beach

“Preserving and Sharing the Life Story of Crystal Beach Amusement Park” is the next subject for the Ebenezer Seniors on Friday, July 20. Mark Jamik will bring back many memories from those Crystal Beach days. Remember the Crystal Beach Boat, the Dance Hall, the wooden roller coaster, the rides and always the cotton candy? Join the seniors at 1:30 p.m. to watch and chat about those fun days. Meet at the Ebenezer United Church of Christ, 630 Main St., or call 674-4566 for more information.

St. John’s offers Weidner barbecue

St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church will host a Weidner chicken barbecue and gift card auction from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8 at the church, 3512 Clinton St. Dinners will include a half chicken, Mark’s homemade baked beans, mac salad, and one dessert, beverage and Costanzo’s roll. Dine in and takeout are available. Tickets are $10 presale, available until Thursday, Sept. 6, or $11 at the door. Tickets for the gift card raffle are $4 per sheet. A door prize will be available, and each presale ticket comes with one additional chance to win. Proceeds benefit the church’s monthly community dinner, building fund and preschool. Summerfest starts Thursday, Aug. 2

Summerfest 2018 at Fourteen Holy Helpers Church, 1345 Indian Church Road, will kick off with a meat raffle at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, in the hall. Each day will offer dinners and raffles, and Vera Bradley bingo will take place Saturday, Aug. 4. Live music will include Nerds Gone Wild, Hit N’ Run and The Buffalo Touch Polka Band. New Hope holds free community meal

New Hope United Methodist Church will offer a free community meal at 4 p.m. Friday, July 20, at the church, 2846 Seneca St. The menu will include barbecued chicken, macaroni salad, corn on the cob, a beverage and dessert. The meal is free as an outreach of the ministry, but a free will offering may be made if desired. Use the Delray Avenue entrance. For more information, call 825-8745.
