.Beer tents at community events are a thing of the very distant past. Thousands of highly-intoxicated drivers are turned loose from these events. Why aren’t sobriety checkpoints set up around them during the weekends they are running? Let’s stop the madness.

.If the West Seneca School Board is serious about holding the line on spending, they would start with freezing the athletic budget, cutting stipends for advisors and chaperones, and eliminating a couple of school psychologists and social workers. There is a lot of room to tighten our belts and cut the waste.

.Taxpayers should vote to cut security guards in West Seneca schools, from elementary all the way to high school. There is no reason for them. They are more trouble than they are worth. Every school has a locked door system with a camera and a microphone, and this system has worked for years. Security guards are a waste of taxpayer money.

.I just drove by the Burchfield Nature and Art Center and it has not looked worse than it does today. In addition, the sign that West Seneca and New York State put $20,000 into is now gone.

.I know growing marijuana is illegal and wrong, but just because someone’s front door is left open does not give someone the right to walk into your house, and that includes the police.

.There are so many vacant buildings in the Town of West Seneca. One, for instance, is the olds Tops on Ridge and Orchard Park Road. It would be nice if they could put an auto bureau there, so we wouldn’t have to go so far. Also, Garden Village would be another good place.
