Linda A. Riedel, former West Seneca music teacher

Riedel Riedel Linda A. Riedel (nee Balash), of Williamsville, died Wednesday, June 9, 2010.

Mrs. Riedel was born in Buffalo and graduated from West Seneca High School in 1956 and Fredonia State College in 1960.

For a short time she taught elementary school music in West Seneca and worked as an office manager in her husband’s optometrist office.

She volunteered at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital for more than 25 years, serving on the women’s board in many capacities, one being secretary and newsletter chairman.

For more than 30 years, Mrs. Riedel sang at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Williamsville and played in the handbell choir. Earlier, she belonged to the Amherst Symphony Women’s Group, and for 16 years she sang with the Buffalo Philharmonic Chorus.

She also enjoyed music, tennis, bowling, traveling, theater and concerts and being with her family.

Mrs. Riedel is survived by her husband, Dr. William Riedel; sons, Mark and Dr. William; daughters, Sandra Crume and Kimberly Carroll; and seven grandchildren.

A service was held Saturday, June 12, at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. Arrangements were made by Beach-Tuyn Funeral Home.
