St. David’s hosts free outdoor summer concerts

St. David’s Episcopal Church, 3951 Seneca St., presents its 2010 free summer outdoor concert series from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursdays; St. Luke’s Mission “Voices of Mercy” on Aug. 26. Attendees are asked to bring a lawn chair. In case of inclement weather, the concert will be moved inside the church. A freewill offering will be held, with proceeds benefiting the performing group. UNYTS slates August community blood drives

Upstate New York Transplant Services Community Blood Service has slated the following times and locations for its community blood drives: from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 27; 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 28; and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Aug. 30, all at the Southgate Neighborhood Donation Center, 100 Union Road. Meat raffle scheduled for Aug. 28 at Post 1477

The Matthew Glab American Legion Post 1477, 1965 Abbott Road, Lackawanna, is hosting a meat raffle on Saturday, Aug. 28. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the wheel spins at 6:30 p.m. Admission costs $4 and includes sandwiches, beer, pop and snacks. A cash bar will be available, and a 50/50 raffle will be drawn. St. Catherine’s reunion picnic planned

The second annual St. Catherine’s reunion picnic for alumni and friends has been scheduled for 11 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 29, at the Martin Lodge at Chestnut Ridge Park, Orchard Park. The liturgy will be celebrated at 11 a.m. A picnic will immediately follow, as well as games for children. Attendees are asked to bring their own meat, beverages, a dish to share, plates, utensils and chairs. There is a nominal charge to defray the cost of shelter and games. Life Church plans ‘Free Community Day’

Life Church, 4928 Seneca St., is hosting a “Free Community Day” from noon till 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 29. All members of the community are encouraged to attend the event, which features free hot dogs, games, bounce house for youth and live music. Call the church at 662-7300.

Marine Corps League sets monthly meeting

Fireman’s Exhibit sets Labor Day steak raffle

The Firemen’s Memorial Exhibit Center of Western New York has scheduled a Labor Day steak raffle for Monday, Sept. 6. Tickets cost $1 each and can be obtained by calling Jim Kavanugh at 674-5585 or Art Popiol at 652-0345. All proceeds will benefit the Fireman’s Memorial Exhibit Center.

Baker Victory Services seeking preschoolers

Baker Victory Services Early Childhood Center, 51 St. John’s Parkside (near Cazenovia Park), has openings for its preschool program, which runs Sept. 7 through June 23, 2011. Openings include morning sessions (9 to 11:30 a.m.), afternoon sessions

Trojans to kick off season with barbecue

The West Seneca East Trojan football team is hosting a 2010 season kickoff chicken barbecue from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 10, inside the parking lot at East Senior High School, 4760 Seneca St. Tickets cost $7.50 presale, or $8.50 that day. The cost includes dinner, beverage, dessert, face painting, activities for children and live music. St. Teresa’s Church sets pig roast, Monte Carlo

St. Teresa’s Church has scheduled a Monte Carlo event, featuring a pig roast, from 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, at the parish center, located at 33 Mineral Springs Road. The cost of dinner is $12 presale, or $15 the day of the event. A beer tent with music will be featured, and several theme baskets will be available for raffle.
