‘Wines At The Shrine’ event to be held

The Shriners of Western New York will host “Wines At The Shrine” at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20 at The Shrine Center, 1600 Southwestern Blvd. Twenty wineries from western and central New York will be offering samples of their finest wines. Tickets are $25 each or two for $40 and include a custom wine glass, hors d’oeuvres and samples from the various wineries. A Chinese auction will also be offered. St. Teresa’s holds spaghetti dinner

St. Teresa’s Parish will hold a “theme basket extravaganza” and spaghetti dinner from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21, in the lower Parish Center, 33 Mineral Springs Road. Takeouts are available. The cost is $5. The dinner is sponsored by O’Connell-Murphy Funeral Home. From 4 to 6 p.m. the night before, there will be a “sneak preview” of the event. The theme basket drawings will be held on Sunday, and winners need not be present to win. Call the church at 822-0608.

Rotary Club presents guest speaker

Lauren Cohen will tell the story of Camp Centerland in Elma at the West Seneca Rotary Club’s next breakfast meeting, to be held at 7:45 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24 at Alton’s Restaurant, 2221 Transit Road. The cost is $10. For more details or questions about membership, contact Bob Rigby at 864-0506.

Burchfield presents movie showing

The Burchfield Nature & Art Center, 2001 Union Road, will present the movie “Babe” at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18 in the center’s classroom. There will be a brief intermission with popcorn and lemonade, and the movie will end by 9 p.m. There is no charge for admission. Call 677-4843 for more details.

St. John’s Lutheran presents sale

St. John’s Lutheran Church, 3512 Clinton St., will hold a penny sale Thursday, Oct. 18. Doors open at 6:15 p.m. and the sale begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are $3 for a sheet of 30, which includes refreshments. For more information or to order tickets, call Connie at 674-2409.
