Bus driver applications being accepted

The West Seneca Central School District is currently seeking candidates for bus drivers to begin in mid-August for the 2015-2016 school year.

Candidates must be at least 21 years of age and must possess good knowledge of motor vehicle operation as it applies to school bus driving. This includes a working knowledge of the New York State motor vehicle regulations relative to transporting school children, skill in the operation of a school bus, ability to establish and maintain order with the students, ability to follow simple oral or written instructions, and physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

Requirements include the possession of a valid commercial driver’s license – Class B with “S” School Bus, “P” passenger endorsements issued by the State of New York at the time of appointment, qualification under Article 19-A of the Vehicle and Traffic Laws of NYS DMV, and qualification under NYS Education Department requirements.

The starting rate of pay is $13.25 per hour, and the work schedule is approximately four to six hours per day, approximately 6:15 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 4:15 p.m.

Individuals are eligible for health and dental insurance, paid holidays, personal days and sick days, and participation in the New York State Employee Retirement System.
