St. Theresa’s to hold raffle April 1

St. Theresa’s Church will hold a raffle Saturday, April 1, in the parish center, 1974 Seneca St. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the raffle starts at 7 p.m. Gift cards and theme baskets will be raffled, with a 50/50 split also being offered. Tickets are $5 and include pizza, beer, soda and snacks. Tickets may be purchased following weekend Masses or at the rectory between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. weekdays, excluding Wednesday. Fellowship Wesleyan plans Easter egg hunt

Fellowship Wesleyan Church will hold its annual Easter egg hunt for children age three years to fifth grade Saturday, April 15. The event will start at 11 a.m. at the church, 1645 Southwestern Blvd. The hunt will be held outside, or inside in the event of inclement weather. Woman’s Club sets Lucky Names event

The West Seneca Woman’s Club’s 44th annual Lucky Names Luncheon will be held Saturday, April 1, at the Grapevine Banquets, 333 Dick Road in Depew. This year’s theme is “Let’s Go Camping.” Viewing of the gifts starts at 11 a.m., followed by lunch promptly at noon. The raffle this year is a Weber Grill with grilling tools and a Buffalo cutting board. Hundreds of prizes and gift certificates are available to win. Proceeds go to local charities and school scholarships. Tickets are $25. For tickets call Diane at 675-0184.

East Middle goes ‘Bald for Bucks’

West Seneca East Middle School will participate in “Bald for Bucks” during the school day Friday, May 12, to benefit Roswell Park Cancer Institute.

Spring ‘Bada-Bing’ craft show planned

The Harvey D. Morin VFW Post 2940 Auxiliary will host a spring “Bada-Bing” craft and vendor show from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 2, at the post, 965 Center Road. Attendees will see what’s new in spring fashion, accessories and home goods, in time for Easter and Mother’s Day. Call 674-2940 for more information on the event or how to register as a vendor.

West sports boosters plan meat raffle

The West Seneca West Sports Boosters will host its second annual meat raffle on Saturday, April 1, at VFW Post 8113, 299 Leydecker Road. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the first spin is at 7 p.m. Admission is $5 each and includes draft beer, pop and snacks. Bottled beer and other beverages will be available at a cash bar. Tables of eight people may be reserved prior to the event, dependent on availability. There will also be a big-ticket raffle for prizes including a chest freezer full of meat, BBQ gas grill, charcoal meat smoker, outdoor fire pit, and a dinner and overnight at Russell’s. Tickets for the big-ticket raffle are $5 each or three for $10. The drawing will be held on Saturday, April 1, at the meat raffle, and you need not be present to win. Tickets for the meat raffle or big-ticket raffle are available by calling 213-3277 or emailing wsw sportsboosters@gmail.com.

Good Friday service hosted at Covenant

The West Seneca Community of Churches is holding a Good Friday service to observe the “Seven Last Words of Christ.” The service will be held from noon to 3 p.m. Friday, April 14, at Covenant United Methodist Church, 539 Main St. During the service, messages will be delivered on the seven phrases Jesus uttered while on the cross. All are invited to this service and may attend the entire three-hour service, or come at any time during the service. Seven different West Seneca preachers and area musicians will give this time of reflection meaning.

‘Bad Habit’ to play at Mooney’s April 1

Bus trip to Rochester casino planned

A bus trip to the new casino in Rochester is planned for Monday, April 3. The bus will depart at 8:30 a.m. from the Fourteen Holy Helpers parking lot, located at 1350 Indian Church Road, returning at 6 p.m. For more information call 668-6037.

Trivia fundraiser, raffle to benefit library

The West Seneca Public Library will hold a trivia fundraiser to benefit the library’s expansion project from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, April 23, at American Legion Post 735, 35 Legion Drive. The first-place team will be awarded a prize and receive a trophy, and the second-place team will receive a prize. Team registration is $80, and up to four players are allowed per team. Individual registration is $20 and players may be assigned a team if requested. Must be 18 years old to register. Refreshments, a basket raffle and silent auction will also be offered. There is no charge to attend and participate in the raffles. Volunteers are needed for the event, and raffle donations are being accepted at the library. South Line to hold babysitting course

The South Line Fire Company will host a free babysitting course from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 22, at the fire hall, 1049 French Road, Cheektowaga. Doors will open at noon for registration. The course is open to all potential babysitters age 12 and above. Each participant will receive a certificate of completion and a babysitters packet.

West side plans ‘Bald for Bucks’ event

West Seneca’s west side schools will hold their “West Side Bald for Bucks” event Friday, April 28, at West Middle. The event begins at 6 p.m. and includes Allendale Elementary, West Elementary, Winchester Elementary, West Middle and West Senior. Proceeds benefit Roswell Park Cancer Institute.
