Reserve Hose Fire Company Chief Robert Kaminski and President Joseph Evans came together with all of their members on the evening of June 4 to recognize the service of those who have been committed to the organization for more than 50 years.

“Chief Kaminski and I realize that our volunteers are our greatest asset,” Evans said to those in attendance.

The honored members were called to the front of the room, where their chairs were adorned with balloons, and a token of appreciation awaited them at their seat.

In order of service years dedicated to Reserve Hose, the recognized members were: Donald Mendola, 50 years; William Swart, 53 years; Robert Luthringer, 53 years; Raymond Jones, 53 years; Michael Ervolino, 54 years; Michael Kamm, 57 years; Erwin Joe Hippert, 57 years; Edward Bauerlein, 58 years; Franklin Meier, 64 years; and Thomas Ulrich, 66 years.

Evans expressed gratitude to the members for dedicating many years of service to the residents of the fire district.

Kaminski briefed those in attendance on the changes that have occurred in the community since each of these members joined, including a change from rural to suburban, as well as equipment and apparatus updates.

“What hasn’t changed is your dedication to our organization, the experience you bring, and the history you have written for Reserve Hose,” Kaminski said.

Erie County Deputy Fire Commissioner James Reger presented commendations from the Fireman’s Association of the State of New York for their dedicated years of service to Reserve Hose.

In special recognition of recently deceased member, Erwin Joe Hippert, FASNY prepared a special recognition presented to Viola Hippert, in honor of her late husband’s service and dedication to Reserve Hose.

Kaminski and Evans then presented certificates of merit to the honored individuals from recently elected Assemblyman Erik Bohen. Erie County Legislator Joseph Lorigo presented additional commendations and recognition to each member who has met the 50-year service milestone.

“It is such an honor to stand before all of you. Thank you so much for all you have done and continue to do for your community,” Lorigo said.

He also presented a proclamation to Evans to recognize the day.
