Bohen secures funding for West Seneca, area libraries

Assemblyman Erik Bohen said he has secured funding for the West Seneca, Orchard Park and Lackawanna public libraries.

Each will receive $4,333 for programming.

According to his office, Bohen has visited each library in the 142nd District and has met with Buffalo and Erie County Public Library officials to identify the best use of state funds to support the local library system.

“Since taking office I have toured all the libraries located in the 142nd District, and I am impressed with the programs available at each library,” said Bohen, citing the learning opportunities at the facilities.

Bohen is a member of the New York State Assembly Libraries and Education Technology Committee, which provides support and assistance to libraries across New York State, he said.

“There is so much going on in the 142nd District in relation to our library system, and I am happy to identify and provide resources that will enhance programming in our community,” he said, adding that improving literacy rates throughout the state is one of his priorities and libraries are the vehicle to begin the process of developing lifelong readers.
