TIDE baseball to hold tryouts

The 15U TIDE Showcase Baseball Program will have tryouts for the 2019 season at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, and Friday, Aug. 10, at Green Lake Park in Orchard Park.

TIDE baseball, which is open to anyone in Western New York regardless of residency, is a program led by head coach Ryan Pitt, a former Division I pitcher. The program focuses on fundamentals, how to play the game and the mental focus.

The TIDE program currently has two teams that play in the Boys of Summer League, Southtowns league, and has played Clarence league games. The program has also played tournaments this year in Diamond Nation, New Jersey; Cedar Point, Ohio; Ann Arbor, Michigan; and several local Western New York tournaments.

This year’s players all played on their modified and JV school teams. The program also participated in five to six community service events.

New for 2019, the program will have an on-staff strength and conditioning coach to work with the players. The offseason facility is Sahlen’s Sports Complex. There will also be a fall/winter long toss and pitching program implemented. This program has helped in preventing the team from having any arm injuries in four consecutive seasons.
