Thomas’ son, Tyshawn Thomas, was named West Seneca East’s Sportsmanship Award winner for the game. West Seneca East’s football team put the finishing touches on its best season in the program’s 50-year history Friday by taking part in the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Class A championship game.

Though the Trojans ultimately lost to Section IX’s Cornwall, 21-14, in Syracuse University’s Carrier Dome, the season overall was a positive experience the members of this year’s squad are not likely to forget anytime soon.
